WhatsApp will add the ability to automatically delete messages after 24 hours
WhatsApp intends to gently change the proposed disappearing messages feature. Fans of such a solution will receive an additional option with which they can set the deletion time of the submitted content. Currently, the application does not provide this type of setting, pre-setting the specified period of 7 days.
According to information released to the public by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is simply testing an advanced feature for handling disappearing messages. So far, a solution has been available but did not offer any customization – the message was supposed to disappear 7 days after it was sent. In the new test version of the messenger, a 24-hour period has been added, which will be much better for many users.
Interestingly, according to preliminary information, the 24h mode could replace the standard 7-day mode. But it looks like the developers decided to leave both functions. A shorter message deletion period can be especially important in the context of sensitive content. Admittedly, sending them using a messenger, even one as encrypted as WhatsApp, is not a good idea, the same reduction in the time for messages to disappear can reduce the risk of leakage.
