At the moment, smartphone brand icon Xiaomi is reported to have patented a smartphone in the market of other countries including India. According to the information available so far, this phone is likely to be a clamshell flip phone with dual camera and selfie display.
According to GSMArena, the company has patented a device in the Chinese National Intellectual Property Association (CNIPA) that looks a lot like a Samsung phone – with two cameras and a small horizontal display on the cover.
The company reports that the new flip phone will also have a vertical punch hole inside for a dual front-facing camera. Below are the SIM slots, a USB-C and a speaker grill. To its right are the Power Key and the Volume Rocker.
However, many other smartphone brands, including Motorola, Huawei and Samsung, have already developed such smartphone devices. It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will add any additional features to capture the market and attract more customers.
Recently, Huawei has been able to bring a clamshell-style folding smartphone to the market which has been dubbed as ‘P50 Pocket’ model. As mentioned in the launching feature of this phone, it is able to quickly access the widgets. With a round, 1-inch outer display, this phone has also been quite successful in capturing the market.
Meanwhile, a recent report from GizmoChina states that Lenovo-owned Motorola is currently working on a third generation Moto Razr flip foldable smartphone. The phone, with Xiaomi’s dual camera and a horizontal display device cover, patented by the Chinese National Intellectual Property Association, is now awaiting release.
