Instagram : Users can repost posts posted by other users. Learn the new benefits of Instagram!
Recently, Meta-owned photo and video-sharing platform Instagram announced that they are rolling out another new feature. It allows users to repost posts posted by other users. TechCrunch reported in their report that while the company has yet to publicly say anything about the repost feature, it is expected that select users will get access to it soon.
A Meta spokesperson said in an e-mail that, ‘We consider reposting any post in the Instagram feed, just as you share your story. It will be possible to repost all the posts that affect us in different ways. It will also provide credit to the original creator of the post for their work.’
He added that, ‘We plan to test this feature with a small number of users very soon.’ Social media consultant Matt Navarrese was the first to discuss this new feature. He recently posted a screenshot showing the use of the Repost tab. That tab is probably where users save posts for all their reposts.
According to that screenshot, the Repost tab will also be present on users’ profiles in addition to Posts, Reels and Tagged Photos tabs. Instagram users who want to post or repost can sometimes still repost any post using a third-party app. But if Instagram can successfully launch this feature, users will no longer need to use third party apps.
Last month, Instagram announced that it would keep two separate options called Sensitive Content Controls for teen users as default on the platform. It will have two options called ‘Standard’ and ‘Less’ to assign appropriate content for minors.
